If a light switch fails to function, it should be
replaced. Most modern switches have
screw terminals on each side and may also have holes in the back in order to
accept the end of the wire. Even though plug-in connections may be more
convenient, they are less reliable than those with screw terminals, so we
advise you not to use them.
Here are some of the descriptions of the wires –
1. The white wire
connects to the silver screw.
2. The black wire
(the hot one) goes to the brass screw.
3. The green or bare
wire attaches to the green screw.
