Light ‘Em Up!

If a light switch fails to function, it should be replaced.  Most modern switches have screw terminals on each side and may also have holes in the back in order to accept the end of the wire. Even though plug-in connections may be more convenient, they are less reliable than those with screw terminals, so we advise you not to use them.

Here are some of the descriptions of the wires –

1.  The white wire connects to the silver screw.
2.  The black wire (the hot one) goes to the brass screw.
3.  The green or bare wire attaches to the green screw.

You can probably roll up your sleeves and tackle the project yourself, but you could light up like AT&T Stadium!  The logical alternative is to call the home wiring experts at Home Pro Services.  They have solved the Dallas area’s electrical needs for many years.  Call them immediately if a light in your home goes out due to faulty wiring at (214) 886-3326.

How to Hang Drywall.

I know, for most of us saying that is like saying how to do brain surgery!  Drywall consists of panels of pressed gypsum plaster between heavy paper.  Drywall is also known as plasterboard, wallboard and gypsum board.  Here is the goal…when hanging drywall, the ultimate goal is to create the fewest number of seams possible.

There are three basic thicknesses of drywall –

1.  5/8 inch which is the most soundproof
2.  3/9 inch is appropriate for covering existing walls
3.  ¼ inch is used when covering curved walls

Let’s go back a bit to something written above…the ultimate goal is to create the fewest number of seams possible (how about none?)  That is the work of a professional handyman found by calling Home Pro Services.  Do you need drywall hung as close to perfection as possible?  If so, call Home Pro Services serving the Dallas area at (214) 886-3326.

If I Have to Look at these Four Walls for the Next Six Months, then I’m Doing Something.

That something can be as simple (or as complicated) as a fresh coat of paint.  It could be complicated in the sense that you may not do the same quality job as a professional handyman painter who has done it in homes and offices throughout Dallas for many, many years.  Please consider that before you begin.

Here are just some of the steps that need to be taken –

1.  Budget for the job.
2.  Estimate the total area ahead of time.
3.  Move the furniture.
4.  Cover the floor entirely.
5.  Have trimmers, rollers, caulkers, etc.

Oh yeah, one more thing…have a professional painter do the work!  You will have to live with the final product maybe for years and you want it to be perfect.  The best handymen/painters for the job in the Dallas area are at Home Pro Services.  You can count on their guaranteed work every time.  Just call (214) 886-3326.

Out with the Old…In with the New.

If you live in your Dallas area home for awhile the day will probably come when you will need to remove old wallpaper and install new.  The old wallpaper CAN be easy to peel off or hard to penetrate depending on what it covers.  As with all things such as this patience and skill are tantamount to completing the job!

There are three types of wallpaper…porous, non-porous, and dry-strippable.  Porous wallpaper, for example will absorb water quickly and loosen up, making it easy to strip.  You will be able to tell if it’s porous by applying some water to part of it using a sponge.  Some wallpaper has a decorative nonporous layer.  Dry strippable wallpaper may be the easiest to remove.

If you are married, would you like to stay that way?  Trying to remove old wallpaper and installing new could be a hazard to your matrimony!  Just kidding (not).  We are Home Pro Services serving the Dallas area for many different home improvement projects for years.  Call us and we will assess the job at (214) 886-3326.
